This time around, the developers promise the world will be much larger than both previous Witcher games and other modern RPGs. This installment of the mature RPG series features an open world with nonlinear gameplay and player choices that impact the story, as in the previous two. For those ready to set upon the wild, gritty, and often strange adventures of Geralt for the third time, there's also a new engine said to make new possibilities in story and gameplay reality. Loyal players that have stuck with Geralt thus far will even find new things to like. Geralt, one of the best Witchers, was granted supernatural enhancements that allow him to capture and hunt down the most dangerous of monsters. Stay tuned for more upgrade updates as CD Projekt Red realigns its release plans for new-gen Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3.The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the conclusion of the trilogy concerning Witcher Geralt of Rivia. However, a report from earlier this year explained that the direction of those plans is being reconsidered. In addition to the many, many patches applied to Cyberpunk 2077 so far, last year’s futuristic RPG was originally planned to feature some sort of multiplayer component down the line. “Apologies for the extended wait, but we want to make it right,” said a statement posted on the studio’s Twitter.

Aside from the pandemic-related struggles likely impacting the teams in some form, the Polish developer has had its hands full working on updates for Cyberpunk 2077. These two delays follow a tumultuous year for CD Projekt Red, after the studio faced waves of criticism due to Cyberpunk 2077’s launch state. At least the upgrades will be free to current owners of the games. The news may come as a disappointment for fans, especially after ESRB ratings for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of The Witcher 3 appeared earlier this week. Now, you can expect the Cyberpunk 2077 new-gen PS5 / XSX upgrade to launch in the first quarter of 2022, while The Witcher 3 will get its upgrade sometime in the second quarter of 2022. These enhanced versions of the big-budget open-world RPGs were expected to arrive sometime this year. CD Projekt Red has delayed upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5 (PS5), and Xbox Series X (XSX) to next year.
